Why stop smoking is supposed to be so hard?

Quitting smoking is something that is very often misunderstood. Some people think it wonderfully simple and can be accomplished simply by imposing a few nicotine patches, calling for a day. Some people, on the other hand, think it is absolutely impossible and that once you start smoking, you're pretty much screwed for life.

Curiously, these two are for most inaccurate, more so the former than the latter. Nicotine patches do not work because they do not treat the underlying causes of how operating a smoking addiction. Instead, they treat the physical symptoms of addiction which, frankly, are not really much more than stomach and a bit of irritability. The most important to know the physical withdrawal symptoms of smoking, however, is that they are not directly you feel like smoking a cigarette, unless you yourself did the connection.

Read a few times. The symptoms of physical withdrawal from nicotine will not directly lead you to smoke. They will not make you want to buy cigarettes, they will not make you think cigarettes, they will just make you miserable and grumpy for a while. Of course, people who say this about "Joe, you're a pain in the thigh. Take a cigarette and calm down "is not really help, and having that cigarette allows your mind these symptoms associated with smoking, but by themselves they will not lead you to smoke.

As for the impossible? You've heard of people quitting smoking and passing their lives, so it can not be impossible. Other Also, if you tried to quit cold Turkey (or using a nicotine replacement often peddled) you probably feel you're never going to be able to quit smoking.

Think about when you smoked a cigarette. It tasted awful, and you probably coughed a lot (and probably your friends laugh). You've kept with it, though, because everyone was doing, and, well, there must be a reason why all these people are smoking. There must be some hidden benefits to smoking which everyone wants to smoke as much.

Now think about when you said, "You know, I want to be addicted to cigarettes." You can not do, because nobody ever decides that they want to be addicted to cigarettes. It kind of creeps on you, even when your mother in law stops.

So everyone gets addicted to cigarettes. They are taught by their friends, the media, or their parents that smoking is, for any reason, a necessary part of life. You might have a depressed family member that you still see smoke. Even non-smokers stress associated with smoking, because somehow they are supposed to make you feel better.

So what happens when non-smokers often enough? They bum a cigarette off someone, and take the usual because they believe that smoking "calm your nerves" or something like that, then they continue to smoke, coughing and hacking along the way, and before they know what they are addicted.
