Quit Smoking Cough Night

How To Get A Man To Quit Smoking

It's my job to hypnotize people to quit smoking. I also hypnotize people to create outrageous new possibilities in their lives. But helping people rid themselves of their life-threatening, debilitating habit is what makes me jump out of bed in the morning.

So if you want to know how to help a man to take the decision and take action to stop smoking, you're in the right place. But you must understand some things first:

1. Men VS. Smoking

Many of my customers smoking cessation are women. They wake up one day with this feeling inside and say: I quit!

Sometimes it is because they want to become pregnant. Or because they concerned about the link between smoking and various cancers, heart disease or other diseases affecting women. Sometimes it because they know they smell like smoke, or they lose money, or it becomes more difficult to breathe when they exercise.

Sometimes, because a beautiful little girl said: "Mum, I want to smoke, just like you."

So they decided, then call me and ask how long they can come if I said, "Five minutes from now, they had managed to arrive on time, no matter how far they live. This is how to act when they quit smoking for good. But men? Well ...

2. Men are different and what that means

I'll make some generalizations here, so fasten your seatbelt and know that I'm trying to make important points that apply many male smokers, if not all. Mea culpa, but I think it's important.

To a man, smoking means something other than a woman.

For a woman (warning: I'm generalizing again), it is a way to spend time with friends who smoke, something to do with his hands; an ill-advised method for keeping his weight down (she thinks) and a way to create curls of smoke (she thinks), she looks elegant, gracious and helpful.

To a man, although he will not admit it, he is tied to his manhood.

It does not exactly how, when or why he started smoking, but here are the favorites:

he learned on his knees
he tried his first cigarette with a crowd of other boys
He took it, because John Wayne smoked
He wanted to rebel
He wanted to feel like a loner
it will like he did something to the woman he loves will leave him alone
He smokes outside his office building so that it can bind with his boss
he started (again) because George Clooney looked so cool smoking in Good Night and Good Luck (substitute any hot male star in a remarkable film)

Whatever the scenario, it is about masculinity and what it means to him.

3. Ways to encourage a man to stop Smoking

There are four or five solid ways to get a guy to quit. And a hundred ways to make more smoke in your attempt to have him arrested. If you are a woman who loves a man who smokes, you know many of the hundred. When I retire, I may compile them all. In the meantime, here some ways that have been tried.

4. Worst Ways

stabbing him
To get his mother to nag him
pointing to items that say smoking = death
showing him articles that say smoking leads to a long list of horrible diseases
ask his doctor to say, especially if he learns that you have done
saying he stinks, literally
that you will not sleep with him if he continues to smoke
saying his cough sounds symptomatic of something horrible
reminding him he swore he would stop
Naming friends, relatives and celebrities who are ill or died due to smoking

These do not work because most people because every time you make the argument, it will trigger a response that proves that this is not true for him. Remind him that what he is and as death from lung cancer, and he will remember that such and so smoked filterless cigarettes, smoked more often and longer.

Whenever harass you, it will afford a cons-example. Whenever you demonstrate why he should not smoke, he will see how his situation is different.

Soon, it may tune your voice entirely when he knows a stop-smoking argument is coming.

5. Best Ways

R. It finds itself in the physical effects of his own body, or stories about a close friend who is very ill, or the new stories, or a very intelligent doctor who can talk to men directly, without being alarmist. It takes decision.

B. One child said, innocently and unfair. Kids say the darnedest things. And spoken with such innocence, he could make one cry stone. Especially if the child's own blood man. (Corruption is acceptable for this good cause, just make sure the kid stays quiet.)

C. He read an article Hits so close to home, he can not ignore. He just "happened" to find this item in the house.

D. He hears his wife or a beloved daughter these words: "I'm having a baby! "A first (grand) child or a late life baby are particularly convincing.

E. A combination of the foregoing.

6. What to say when you said to the man Is smoking cessation

Be pleasantly surprised, even if you prepare it for months. Be happy, and does not help. Let him ask.
Avoid saying "It's about time" or "I told you you'd better. "Instead try" That's great. "and then stops. If it looks like he is confident not to harass you, you can quietly add" Can I do something? "but if you 've been a hack, do even that.

Do not ask about his progress, let him speak. If he chooses to speak, be supportive and proud of him, as if the idea was entirely his. Because, honestly, it was.

Enjoy knowing that you got what you wanted. Keep this private enjoyment. © 2007 by Wendy Lapidus-Saltz. All rights reserved.
