You know it's unhealthy to smoke, but you can not seem to stop! Unfortunately, programs for smoking cessation not only fail to address the root causes of addiction to nicotine, but they also fail beyond ninety percent of the time! But I'm here to tell you that there is a better solution to overcome your addiction to nicotine who does not include patches, gum, hypnosis, psychotropic drugs or non-sense!
WHY YOU SMOKE
As each type of normal behavior, I think that smoking is a choice. I also believe that this choice can be decomposed into two following categories
- People who sometimes enjoy a cigar or cigarette socially
- People who smoke to relieve their needs emotional distress and anxiety
Although there are health risks to consider when smoking persons entering, respectively in the first category are generally capable of walking away from it without any difficulty whatsoever. Comparatively, Parallels that individuals who drink occasionally and / or socially. The second category represents individuals who have become addicted to smoking to relieve emotional distress and anguish there, whereby making it extremely difficult to achieve stop smoking unless they remove the root cause. I am vehemently opposed labeling anyone as I think we are all created equal, but in order to better understand these people fall within the definition of the medical community of nicotine addiction. As already mentioned, most physicians, therapists, hypnotists, counselors and experts in smoking cessation would have you believe that smoking is caused by a chemical co-dependency and / or behavior that is learned. Well, I have a different opinion on these theories, and have proven time and time again in my Addiction Recovery Coaching practice that the root cause dependence is the need to mask emotional distress. These emotional issues are often rooted in negative patterns of dysfunction family, and smoking is no exception. Although when it comes to a smoking addiction, the main type of emotional distress at issue is anxiety. In many ways, smoking is used as a coping mechanism for those of us who are nervous, fearful or anxious about our family, job, relationship or financial well-being. The frantic effort to control life often leads to smoking or addiction nicotine. Basically, smoking is a crutch! But why some people react to the unknown with anxiety while others cope calmly with the belief that things always work out? I think the answer is twofold. First, some people have naturally higher level of coping skills, and secondly, some people have learned to overcome their fears, insecurities and most important of all their troubles!
The psychotropic effects of nicotine
As nicotine enters the body, it is distributed quickly into the bloodstream and can cross the blood-brain barrier in about seven seconds. The life of nicotine in the body is about two hours. The amount of nicotine absorbed by the body from smoking depends on many factors, including type of tobacco, the smoke is inhaled, and whether a filter is used. The mood of nicotine alters the effects vary according to the report. Initially, it causes a release glucose by the liver and the adrenaline from the adrenal gland, which produces a stimulating effect. However, users say they experience relaxation, clarity, calm, and even the vigilant. When a cigarette is smoked, nicotine-rich blood passes from the lungs to the brain within seven seconds and immediately stimulates the release of several chemical messengers such as epinephrine (adrenaline) and dopamine, a neurotransmitter, which results in enhanced pleasure, decreased anxiety and a state of alert relaxation. However, as the body adapts it requires increased amounts of nicotine to produce the same effect, that the creation of a trap!
WITHDRAWAL
Several proponents of the model chemical dependency believe that when you stop smoking, your body responds very quickly to the absence of nicotine in your system. They argue that, past three to five days, you're likely to experience a number of symptoms following physical toxins are flushed your body:
- Increased irritability, frustration or anger
- Anxiety, of tension or nervousness
- Agitation
- Difficulty concentrating
- Fatigue
- Ailments head
- Sleep Disorders
- Increased appetite and weight gain
However, I have seen no empirical evidence to prove conclusively that most people experience the symptoms listed above because of lack of nicotine. I think most of these symptoms exist before smoking. Therefore, once you stop smoking, anxiety, nervousness, poor concentration, fatigue, insomnia and resurface. Nicotine was simply a masking agent! Basically, smoking is a means to alleviate the anxiety disorders emotional. Think for a moment and ask yourself the following questions:
- When do you smoke to calm your nerves and relieve your anxiety?
- Do you find it difficult to manage your anxiety without the crutch of smoking?
- What caused your anxiety? What patterns dysfunctional as you learned in the past that have damaged your self-esteem, confidence, or willingness to trust?
- Do you find it hard to avoid trouble and to trust the flow of life?
- Are you afraid about negative about your relationship, work or financial situation?
Once you explore these questions, you May begin to discover the vehicle, which is driving your addiction to cigarettes!
Overcome your addiction to nicotine is really all about removing the source of your emotional stress, is not it? If you can relieve anxiety, nervousness, and distress emotional that you would not need to be mitigated with known psychoactive substance (nicotine?) Smoking is a symptom of underlying emotional distress and anxiety. Therefore, when you fix the root of the problem of smoking becomes repulsive.
Learn make your urges to smoke dissolve on the spot! Learn to make smoking become repulsive to you! Learn how to crush your last package of cigarettes and stay away forever!
