Stop smoking with varenicline
A family member of mine finally stopped smoking at the age of 49 years. He began as many do, just by chance into the habit while in high school and at work, where he was a mechanic small Midwestern town. It was no different than the thousand other people who lived around him in his very rural education. The culture of smoking has been very strong, especially among less educated, blue collar workers like him.
Over the years, parents of the city would be him and some members of the Family others a difficult time in their smoking habit. This particular report would just nod and say with a circulation countries, "Yeah, I should stop. "But once he drove back home, substance abuse and behavior have been too strong to overcome. But finally he came to the crossroads paths. His children grow up and follow in his footsteps. He, like many other Americans working hard, wanted a better life for her children and was afraid they could make the same mistakes he had made - one of whom was smoking.
So, try and try, it does not, as began the long road to quitting. He tried to quit cold turkey, then used the nicotine patch. His comment about the fix was fairly funny. He said he would put 2, 3 sometimes 4 plates on the body and he still wanted a cigarette. He said that if he could, he even tried lighting and smoke it, just to see if it would help. (Side Note - Do not try this at home, he was only joking). But how dependency worked. This does not mean the patch is bad, it just is not for everyone. He needed something else.
Finally, a few years later, he did what he should do. He saw his doctor and talked about his addiction to nicotine and previous relapse. He and his doctor then came with a comprehensive plan to stop smoking cigarettes once and for all. The plan called Chantix, all things. True, one presented as the best, but beware those who mind tingling side effects. Once started the program, he never looked back. He finally quit smoking after 32 years. Today, after two years of use of Chantix, he said he did not miss and started not quit sooner.
I asked him if he had dreams Bazaar or bizarre / eccentric feelings while taking Chantix. He said he remembered his dreams more regularly while taking Chantix, but nothing too crazy happened. Now, you can not make him stop talking about how he quit smoking. It is a new man, with a completely different future that he had two years ago. Before leaving to return home, he told me what I tell my patients for years. He said not grown tired of smoking and I wanted to stop. And that finally propelled him to quit.
You see, this is not always the method or medication that helps you to stop. These are just tools to help you meet your decision. It always seems to come down to decision. I've never met a patient who never told me to quit by accident - they were always ready to call Finally, she leaves.
While Chantix does make him quit? No, not really. He was arrested. Armed with previous experience and the information he got from his doctor, he was able to facilitate its decision with a method that suits him and his addiction.
